The first stop on our Ireland road trip was Limerick. We arrived into Limerick after visiting the historic Bunratty Castle – where I had the lovely vegan chickpea sausage roll (3.60 Euro) in the visitor centre café.

We stayed at the Limerick City Hotel for 1 night, the room was pretty standard but it has a great central location and we enjoyed watching the sunset over the river Shannon from our window. It was only a flying visit so no breakfast to review.
There were quite a few options on Limerick city centre restaurant menus to choose from but we failed to discover any exclusively vegetarian of vegan restaurants here.
What we also started to realise is that eating out was generally more expensive in Ireland than the UK.
After exploring the town we settled on Japanese restaurant Taikichi – 35 O’Connell Street Limerick.

I went for the Yasai vegetable bento box (13.50 Euro) which was really good, a highlight being the light battered vegetable tempura.
The next morning before heading off to our next road trip destination we liked the look of Sodalicious – 9 Lower Cecil St, Limerick, V94 Y9P9 – for a vegetarian friendly pancake (6 Euro) and coffee brunch.

The interior of this place is really stylish and would make the perfect place to blog from! If we were staying longer we would have definitely tried their bread selection, which they specialise in.
But having made this final pit stop we were off to the next destination on our road trip… Tralee.
